First gear. Just want to make clear that I am not going to purchase any equipment before I join a club. But I would like to get info on the different equip used for competition bows. I've browsed the forum and found no info on what the parts of a bow actually are. Is there a faq? I know say what limbs are or a riser but it took me a while to figure out what a nock is. I may not be joining a club in a while and there's no shop within 100 miles of me. So I would like to be up on the technicalities of archery. If people could explain to me what the different parts of a competition recurve are it would be much appriciated. thanks. Seb.

This may be more than you can handle at the moment but down load and read the Easton tuning guide and habve a look round their web site www.eastonarchery.com and do a search on archers paradox on the net

stylist bows hire to purchase Rather than purchasing hundreds of pounds worth of equipment when you are still learning archery and when you don’t know how far you will go in the sport. Stylist bows offer a hire to purchase scheme. Rent the bow for around £5 per week and swap the limbs as much as you like in the first year for no extra charge. This will allow you to work your way up to a settled draw strength and draw length. After 1 year you can buy the bow with the money you have paid over the year knocked off the bow. Or if you don’t get on with the sport you can walk away with no expensive equipment sitting only to collect dust. http://www.stylist-bows.com/ All the equipment can be posted out to you or if you live near by can drop into the factory (Farnborough Hants) This is something to consider and could prove a wise decision.
