helix brace height.

hi all hope to pick up my new hoyt helix tomorrow.
antway, have a set of 70 inch winex limbs to put into it which have a draw weight of 32lb at 28inches, my draw is about 29.5 and i have the limbs wound out on my samick aquella, giving me just a snip under 40 lbs on the fingers, anyone have a clue as to about what i should be setting the brace height, if i had the cash would get new limbs as well but i dont so will have to wind out the helix till money becomes available..
i havent been this excited since,,,,, in a long time. hope it lives up to its reputation..

IMHO they are great risers.... which is why I shoot one

hehe, anyway, I can't help you with your bracing height question, but just to let you know, with the way the Helix is designed, your effective draw length will be 1/2inch shorter, so your arrows will be 1/2inch too long.

Have fun shooting! Kae.

thanks for the info loosing half an inch is not a problem as i am about half an inch into my aquella riser before the clicker drops, so with the extender of the helix i should not have to chop my arrows, guess its gonna effect the spine though, Hmmm does that mean a new set of x7s are on the cards.
guess i will have to wait and see, at the moment i use 2014 x7s.

I'm on G3 medium limbs with a BH of 23cm to centre of button (using the back hole - the one closest to the string).

I've varied from 22cm upto 23cm and find the bow best at 23cm. It is very very quiet.

I've been shooting Helix Winex for the last couple of months. 70" 36lb limbs at 31.75" (X10s)

Preferred brace height was 9 1/8" at lower draw weights (~42) and slightly better at 9 1/4" when maxed to 44lb.

I tried a range of string materials and found 16 strand 8125 to be the best by a long way (quietest, smoothest and best groups). Which is odd because with my G3 limbs I tend to shoot 18 strand and it is very close run thing between Majesty and 8125.

Unfortunately the limbs are now for sale in the forum because they aren't heavy enough

YMMV

hmm just had to go and find a ruler to find out what 23cm was in inches 9 1/4 which oddly enough is what my bracing height was but i`ve recently dropped it to 8 1/2 and this has given me more extension on my sight marks, i`d say your best off experimenting a little with brace height try 8 1/2 9 even all the way up to 9 1/2 see which works best for you

Exactly the same with me on my G3 medium limbs. Can I ask a question, you are buying one of the best risers on the market, and using some of the best limbs on the market, so why are you using X7's. Unless you are shooting indoors you are not going to get the best out of your bow or be competitive at the longer outdoor distances.

yes your right, i am for the present shooting 18m as im quite new to archery, only shooting just over six months, my pb is 547 at 18m.
I do have a set of acc 18/620 which my brother gave to me (was him got me hooked) but my coach has told me to shoot the x7s and i does what the man says. hope to do well at the intervarsity shoots we have hear in Ireland from september. only thing i dont like about the x7 2014 is the super nock takes a bit of getting used to after shooting with the smaller g nocks. well will keep all posted on the helix .

You can get a Beiter 19/1 or 19/2 nock that feels like a Gnock. Also you can stick -60 Unibushes into the back of the allow and then it takes Gnocks.
