| I've got an Eclipse, and for a first 'proper' bow (I've only been shooting for 5 months) I can HIGHLY rate it. It's got an excellent grip, is a good weight (about 2.5lbs) and feels solid and stable in the hand. For about 1/3rd of the price of the Helix & Aerotec, it's seriously good value for money for someone starting out in the sport. I think it's powder coated rather than painted (to correct some of the comments earlier), and yes, the finish isn't up to the standard of the Helix or Aerotec, but then what would you expect for £140? It's forged, rather than machined, which is why it's cheaper, but to be honest for the money it's well worth a look.

| Is it forged or just cast magnesium alloy? I suspecty that for the price it is just cast. Had a quick search around but couldn't find out. Simon |

What it ISN'T is machined out of a solid block of ally/magnesium alloy using a milling machine, like the Helix & Aerotec.

i) If you feel proud of the kit you are shooting with you will shoot better. ii) If you are proud of your kit you will look after it more, and make sure it is set up better - almost a cased of you do not want to let the kit down. iii) If the person next to you on the shooting line is looking at your kit and are thinking - what a tart he spent way over the odds for that piece of kit - then they are not fully focused on their shooting - even better when in a H2H. You may say some or all of the above are a bit sad, but archery is just as much about psycology (and luckily not spelling) as anything. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| [quote=TJ Mason]Another difference is that the Eclipse doesn't have any limb alignment adjustment -- not necessarily a bad thing, but it's one tuning option less.QUOTE] The Eclipse has exactly the same limb pocket adjustments as the Helix and Matrix, it also has the same grip as the Helix and the same bow geometry. The feel of the shot is softer than the Helix but that does not make it any less accurate. The only possible down side is that it's a painted handle and will chip if not cared for. However all the archers I know shooting one only have good things to say about it. |

| There can be a distinct failure of humour sometimes, but I think that has a lot to do with the communicative method, ie something that sounds funny when spoken, doesn't translate well to written words. That aside, The small fact that shooting a Helix makes you feel good, is enough reason to buy one. However, I wish they had the eclipse out when I first started archery, as I wouldn't of hesitated to buy it then. So, the next question, WHEN are hoyt going to stop making the GM (I don't think its an IF anymore)? I predict it won't be in next years catalogue. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
