New equipment - please comment

I'm shooting 1st class scores at the moment with a Mizar handle, cheapo limbs and platinum arrows. I'm going to upgrade and am considering a winact riser (£180) with hoyt edge/epic limbs (£148) with ACC's (£99). I've put the prices as this is around what I've budgeted. I know a lot is down to feel for the individual, but I'd like people to comment before I spend my dosh.

Thanks...

Get Triples rather than ACCs. If you're shooting more than about 32# OR 26", ACCs tend to be very susceptible to wind.

Not overly convinced about the Hoyt limbs, but I think limbs are really a bit subjective - Personally, I think 150 quid is a bit much for wood-core limbs, might you be able to get them cheaper somewhere else?

RE: New equipment - please comment

I shoot a Winact and it's a really nice riser. I decided on it over the agulla 'cos it felt a lot nicer in the hand. The agulla grip was 'plasticky' and creaky. The winact is also anodised as opposed to painted, which makes it more hard wearing (mine doesn't have a mark on it after 4 months). I use KAP (same as W & W) woodcore limbs at 34lbs and they feel quite nice too, I think they're about £99.

Got all mine from Custom Built Archery, but Lez Newsome at Custom Archery and Leather carries very similar stock at very similar prices and i'm sure either would cut you a deal on a complete set up. Neither do the triples though.

Both shops are on the retail review thread

Hope this helps.

I've had a quick search for triples at Quicks and Bow Sports. Cannot find 'em - how makes them - Easton?

Cartel Triples Can be found on bowsports and altservices. I think http://www.alternativess.com has the cheapest price, but only by a few pence.

Just checked....

£7.84 at Altservices and £7.99 at Bowsports. Altservices seem to be changing the price of Triples daily at the mo.

I use Triples and think they are great.

I think I'd pay the extra 15p an arrow rather than risk the abuse if they got my order wrong

I've not had a problem in the wind with A/C/Cs. I was shooting today in some fairly nasty wind conditions, and the A/C/Cs went exactly where I aimed them, the rotten swines. I must give Triples a try, though. A lot of people whose opinions I respect (including yerself) rate them very highly.

RE: New equipment - please comment

I have a Winact riser and Winact carbon limbs. they shoot well but i will upgrade to some win and Win and Win foam cored limbs next year, they are so smooth and light (in terms of draw weight) I shoot Easton Navigtors from Chiltern on line at £135 a doz. Another archer at my club has the triples, but the nocks do not fit that well.

Triple nocks: Don't buy the Cartel ones, they're utter crap. Beiter Outserts are OK, Beiter Inserts are best, on a par with Easton Vector pins and your choice of pin nock (Easton or McKinney)
