Realistic target for Bowman?

well i`ve got 36lb on my fingers which is comfortable and gets me to 100yrds
thinking of getting some new limbs next year but i`ll not increase to more than 38lb, even though i can draw more it needs to be comfortable.

I've managed 3rd then second then first and i need my third bowmen score this weekend to get bowmen in my first year. I shot from 11years old to 13 and then stopped until may this year(i'm 28), did 632 on a short metric this weekend 1pt away from 26 handicap. Got a FITA sunday to do my final bowmen score fingers crossed.

porly, if you can, keep on shooting outdoors through the winter too.

it took me 2 yrs to get to bowman, but i changed age group in the middle of my first year.

Six months to a year for bowman is a good goal. I shot bowman in my first six months (not in tournaments though, only shot three FITA Stars in my novice year). MB took me until I'd been in it for 2.5 years - simply because I didn't have the tournaments, I had the scores. Nearly GMB this year (there's still time!) and I've been in it 4.5 years.

I'm desperately trying to find places still doing outdoor shoots near me!

I'd have shot a National if I wasn't at the american, if I'm lucky I'll get a second class, I'd love to see if I could get that before the end of the year, but I think it's perhaps unrealistic.

2nd outdoor season. Made 1st class at the end of last season, just scraping in . This year I have been putting in some good 1st class scores. Look towards a bowman class by the end of next year. If the weather is better.

Have you had any coaching, Grant? Just wondering, as right now I could never imagine me being bowman by next summer, but it's not being down on myself or anything, I just thought it would take longer for some reason.

Fingers crossed, I can find another club running frostbites in between, so I can do at least 2 a month aside from the indoors stuff

Now in my second season and made Bowman. I made it to 2nd class in my first season, then took a real slump half way through the indoor (only made 536 Portsmouth, and that was before my problems).

I Started this season unable to make 2nd class score and depressed. One really well targetted piece of coaching and my next score was easily first class (my target for the year). The other 1st class scores took a little time, but the Bowman followed about 6 weeks later.

Keep the targets realistic, but don't get bent out of shape over them. The main thing is to work on the form, and the scores will come.

In terms of poundage, I am sure 40# would be usefull for flatter trajectory, however I shoot 36# limbs, and only about 34# on the fingers. I have no problems at 100yards, and the sight bar remains most of the way out (no need to bring it in, and definitely no need to reverse it). ACE's however did make a big difference for tis over XX75's
