| I would guess not, because the first round would effectively be illicit sighters for the second.

| The rules change depending on the governing body of the round shot. IIRC, GNAS states that you are not allowed to shoot the same distance twice in the same day because the first time it is shot counts as sighters. Obviously the rule changes for double rounds. eg, a double Portsmouth is allowed, two single Portsmouths are not. FITA allows the same distance to be shot more than once in a day provided there is a 45 minute gap between when you stopped shooting that distance. eg, it is possible to have two single FITA 720 rounds in a day, with an hour for lunch in the middle. Someone stop me if this is at all wrong. |

| I believe the rules say that the first round is the only one that can count for records. I believe that it does not exclude a second round in the handicap rules or the classification rules (although I cant check the book till I get home). This would then mean that you could count both scores as valid for the purposes of classification. Could someone with access to the rules quote the relevant bits please? Cheers Jonathan |

| Interesting, ok, guys, ta for that. Was just curious really, as I see people talking about double rounds.

| It's a bit of a grey area. The classification rules don't say anything about it. The outdoor archery rules say you can't have any practice on the range on the day, other than sighters. But they go on to recognise double rounds for national records... (though only the first one may be claimed as a single round record )I will note the following: the tables don't list double rounds at all, so if you were looking up classes or handicaps, it would be for two single rounds. GNAS allows you to shoot a double round, so why would they forbid you to take both into account? Technically, the first round isn't practice, it's competition. So it shouldn't fall foul of the 'no practice' rule, unless you have a second set of sighters... It's somewhat academic, as the highest class you can claim on an American is 2nd, and I don't think anyone is going to be too bothered about the fine points at that level... It would be petty to say 'no you can't have the second round for your classification'. Who would object? Why? But it would be up to the records officer at your club to say what they would accept, as the system is administered by them, before MB level... |

| Although not one myself , are there any sadists around who have shot a double York or FITA in a day? Would be interesting if both achived MB or better. Personally still standing would be an achivement!

| Impressive! 22doz arrows. Bet you knew about that the next day. And how did your handicaps compare for the two rounds, or should I not ask in case I am being impolite.

| Consider yourself finger-wagged. The fine points are just as important at "that level". I know. I'm permanently there!
