| No, makes you sensible. One of the things I didn't like about the Helix was that grip - it seemed to really give you a kicking somewhere painful if you got your hand position even slightly wrong. Or was that just me?

| Hello AIUK. I have been reading this forum for some time but didn't have much to contribute so I sat on the sidelines... lurking. Like many of you I have been searching for that perfect grip (I'm not sure that I even know the definition of a perfect grip). Anyway, I've read articles written by D. Rabska, J. Parks, R. McKinney, V. Frangilli and others, and have modified my standard Hoyt grips to have the "high-ridge" towards the palm-side of the hand, sloping away towards the thumb (that seems to be the present ergonomic trend/teaching). I modified three different grips to have slopes as follows (approx.): 32 degree with 11 degree "ridge", 39 deg./14 deg. ridge, and 48 deg./10 deg. ridge. These probably don't meet the archery industry's definition of Low/Medium/High wrist but that's the way I tend to think of them. I've shot with each one for several weeks (probably even "months") to get use to it and to give it an honest try. I like the feel and "width" of the "flat surface", and I tend to favor the medium (39/14) SLIGHTLY over the others. Last week I modified a 4th grip to the "ball" type of grip that the Frangilli's prefer. I've never handled an original Frangill bowgrip before so I don't know how closely my rendition is to one. I believe the shape is reasonably close from the pictures that I've seen but I don't know about the "size" or "fit" of it. Anyway, I've only shot about 400 arrows with it and I'll need to shoot several hundred more to give it an honest try. My thoughts so far is that the pressure-contact-point is easily repeatable. - John |

| My grip is pretty near finished - well it's all done but the tweaking based on real world shooting rather than back porch shooting. You can take a look if you like - the pics are in my journal so that those who aren't interested don't need to download them.

| I find the easyest way to make a good grip is to get some sallys need-it and a file and keep mucking around with it till its right. The main thing is to work out how you want your hand to be and where you want the pressure points and shape it from there. |

| Kill me..I've just started epoxying my *wood* grip...I know, but at least it's transparent. I need something to push the base of my thumb in more, and push against my palm, otherwise I can feel the bow pulling to the right and that'll give me blisters ![]()
