Brilliant replies, everyone, its really cheered me up.
It is good to hear that problems with SF stuff seem to be few. As you say, everyone has stuff that misses quality control.
I know he hasn't dry shot his bow...its one of the first things we warn beginners of anyway, and this chap is so consciencious you wouldn't believe it.
In addition, I'm hoping he paid some of it on his credit card. £100 makes the credit card company jointly liable. We do that for lots of things, such as when we bought a car.
When there is a resolution, I'll let you know who the retailer was, and their actions. It'll either be a glowing recommendation or dire warning!
Thanks everyone.

Thanks everyone.
If the retailer is at all smart, it'll be a problem free exchange. You can't buy the kind of word of mouth advertising you get from a well satisfied customer.

Is there a link to the SF web site, or a way to get in touch with them? My daughter has a set, and I think they have a small crack in them. Lower limb, half way down, and it's on an edge. I really need to get them exchanged, but can't affod down time right now.

Wandering slightly off topic here, but still - Bearing in mind we're all on the same side here, can we not get to know who this particular retailer is? Or am I missing the hidden clues?

I was about to go out and spend the best part of £300 on some new limbs soon, (more than likely through Merlin Archery) and I'd hate to think I'd be treated in the same way if the same thing happened to my new limbs!

The reason I didn't say outright is because I don't have absolutely all the details in the case (the archer involved is at a local club, not at mine). For instance I don't know how long they had the limbs prior to shooting them that first time, and of course have no idea why the company responded as it did.
Knowing the archer and company involved though, I'm pretty convinced that it was the retailer at fault. I would have pursued it, but the archers involved just got put off by the hassle.

So as, despite several bad press stories before, this first-hand account did strike it home to me try this thread and mentally add this story to it.

I must say my Masters limbs came from Alternative as did another pair of beginner limbs we have and no problems. However, now Samick limbs are more readily available at a good price than a few years ago, I would not be using them again for such a major purchase.

ahhh, many thanks for that - I did suspect it may have been Alternative, but wasnt certain. Like you say, it's a major purchase, and I'd feel happier if the retailer was supportive if anything goes happen to go wrong. From what I've heard, Merlin are excellent in this respect, so they'll be getting my business when I've saved up enough pennies.

A guy in my club bought some S.F. limbs and he discovered a hairline crack in one of them. He took them back to the shop he bought them from and they exchanged them for a new pair, no questions asked, he got a cup of coffee and a chat too!!!
