I'd like any info on this also, as my next 'projected' purchase would be limbs and I'd short-listed the SF's....

Mmmm. Would people care to comment on which version of the SF limbs there were problems with? The pure foam or the carbon/foam ones...?

Carbon / Foam here. I dropped Flute a note in english............wonder if I'll get a reply? We had a set that we thought wasn't straight. As it turned out, they said they were, but Alt sent us new ones out anyway. Problem is it took about a month and a half to get the limbs back

I'm a little concerned that SF is being singled out for a lot of criticism here. I originally posted asking if anyone else had had problems, and was it handled well by the manufacturer or supplier. It seems there are a few, but, searching this forum, certainly no more than G3s, Winex, Challenger etc, and there are issues posted concerning limbs from the majority of manufacturers.

IMO take advice on how limbs perform by all means, then go try before buying, but don't base your decision on how many problems each type has. You could be missing out on kit you'll adore for a fantastic price. All manufacturers have occasional problems, especially with such high performing materials and technology in an essentially handmade product.

Lets face it, if we only bought cars based on reliability we'd all be driving Mazdas, and its more important how problems are addressed than the problem itself.

In theory, all these SF problems have occured within warranty under UK law (not sure about US) and it is down to the retailer to handle it with the same courtesy and good will that you would expect from taking a faulty shirt back to Marks and Spencer. After all, its not the retailer's fault, and he should be fully compensated by his supplier too. That said, for some retailers I know of it would be easier to get a drink out of a Vogon (stick your fingers down his throat).

I don't have any further information on how my friend's problem is being handled, but I will post when there is something to report.

Good news...of sorts.
My friend sent an email to Eastcote Archery that evening, and had had a phone call 10 minutes later from them to discuss what could be done. By the sounds of it they couldn't be more helpful. The next day he was called to be told that replacement SFs would take 5 to 6 weeks, which sounds fair enough for a specific type and draw weight. So instead he went to Hawick the next day and traded up to a set of Hoyts (not sure which yet) by paying the difference.
He's spent a happy few days tuning, limbs exchanged no question or quibble (agreed even before they were seen by Eastcote), and he has effectively managed to trade up at no additional expense. He'll also make the Scottish Novice Champs with a smile on his face!
The only downside is the order time on the replacement SF, which while understandable, is disappointing.

Major thumbs up for Eastcote Archery of Hawick, who made it a trouble free exchange. Hopefully the old limbs will be going back to Flute for checks and future improvements.

I'll see my friend tomorrow evening for all the gory details and see how he's getting on. Thanks everyone for your help.

Yay for Gwynn (Eastcote's proprietor)... he's a nice guy and likes to treat everyone fairly. Glad your clubmate got the limbs sorted - great news!

Aparantly, over the 2000 plus sets of SF limbs sold in the UK this year, there have been 5 or 6 failures. I don't know how that compares to other manufacturers, but 0.25 to 0.3% sure beats NASA's record.
