| Why should it?

| I've seen countless people who have stabilisers but still grip the bow - thus absolutely nothing happens after the shot, the bow just ends up in the hand and torqued to buggery. This is where personal preference comes in - I don't like the bow to fall out of my hand on the release, but to rotate smartly forward. If it drops vertically before rotating then it just leads to dropping the bow arm and an annoying ammount of shots ending up in the red, scoring 8 at 6...

| Who gives a damn what it actually does?? As long as your bow doesnt kick upwards aftershot, just get something that feels nice to you ![]()

| Everyone has their own preference, whch is why you'll see so much variation! Personally I don't like too much weight on the end so use the extender and the length to bring the bow down. Swings nicely away. Glad to see someone else has Apollo stuff Madmac. Loads of people at club went... who? TA

| This is, in my opinion, the best place to get the information you need to understand stabilisation. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/joetapley/ Joe is a member of this board, and has stabilisation down to a T. I have some docs on bow stabilisation mechanics, i'lll have to dig them out. Stabilisers aren't there to make the bow swing prettily, but to improve clearance and sighting (IMO). My bow is actually stationary as the arrow leaves the bow, then it swings down and rests against my thigh. However, i will be the first person to put my hand in the air and say that there are better people out there that know much more than me! Kae. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I agree, Modern bows are designed to be shot with a long rod! otherwise the bow is back heavy causing it to fall back after the shot. The idea of stabilisers primarily, is to place as much weight, and therefore inertia, as far from your bow as is practical / comfortable. After that, it's a matter of adding v-bars, twins, doinkers or whatever else you want, to make the bow feel nice to shoot! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| stabilizers are to help you shoot the next arrow where you put the last one, do try and borrow other longrods otherwise it gets expencive. beiters are good, there are alot of them around so you might get a good 2nd hand deal | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I thought that the system should be set so that the end of the longrod should move forward towards the target when the arrow leaves the bow/string bottoms out, that way everything is lined up in the same direction (towards the target),The bow can fall/rotate away after that as the arrow has long gone Last edited by John (OSF); 25-10-06 at 12:15 AM..
