Thank you all for your replies, I shall amend my thoughts on shooting at home.

I am surprised tho' that if there are issues, safety, legal or otherwise in shooting at home, that "garden/practice" bosses are on sale obviously for the home user and not club use.

Watch out with the "garden/practice" bosses.

Some of them are so light and flimsy as to be no use / protection at all, especially with a high poundage recurve or compound....

When I have a 150 x 50 yard back garden, I *may* consider shooting at home

Very true.

But if you live on a farm or have access to a large private field, their is not a problem.

Quite a few archers at my club pratice at home either in their garage or indoors.

I think we even have a few that pratice in the back yard, but they are ataking a risk and they know that

If you look at the images accompanying the ads for "Garden Sets", they show people shooting in a large area. Frankly, I think advertising "garden sets" shows an outrageous lack of common sense and can only do the sport harm.

out door shooting

Rather than rant at somone who is asking for information it may be better to suggest that darren tries to contact a local club that has outdoor facilitys available during the winter most clubs will charge a small fee for GNAS members to shoot at there clubs (any one know of one in the leeds area) Many people who have just finished a begineers course haven't seen a gnas rule book let alone read it cover to cover
All they want to do is shoot
Its down to the club to help them pick up more detailed info as they go We have copies of books that newies can borrow and they are told to ask coaches and other members if they need or want more info .
