check your nocks -total nock failure causes pain

There I was happily shooting into the garage at home, at the same time as preparing the sunday roast i might add. Up at full draw and bang, my beiter nock had broken off where it meets the shaft! what happened next was in slow motion, blood started pouring out of my arm as I released my bow sling, and one massive egg formed obscuring the whole of my elbow. I can only assume that the nock stayed on the string and passed through the skin on its way towards the bow. Will take a picture of bruise while I`m thinkng about it. Has anyone else suffered in this way?

see archery is a blood sport.. whilst on the line at full draw a stick chucker next he had an arrow failure on release the pile went 6 bosses left the nock to the right and the center section mannaged to come backwards hitting me below the right eye causing a cut and a bit of bruising.still could have been worse could of hit my bow..

From the sounds of it, nothing was being done wrong (apart from possibly burning the meat while attending to the wound).

that happens to me about once every 3 months. but i get it with the easton pin nocks. they fail mid way around the pin, not the part that grips the string. my lastest was 3 days ago. the blood has healed and the bruise is gone but the scar from the skin tear is still fresh. i also am getting a longer armquard to help protect my arm from it.

the bummer is it makes a dreadful dryfire sound and sometimes ruins my string serving too. ive lost 2 strings that way.

I did it at BUSA - or something very similar. Just coming up to full draw, as I started to push my shoulders around my left arm decided to lock out (it was the back half of the first dozen at 50yrds). This sent the front arm off wondering around, through the clicker and I didn't have the control to come down. Resulting arrow missed, resulting damage was a lump of skin missing from the inside of my left forearm. No blood at all, but a 2cm by 0.5cm lump of skin missing and a lot of pain (my guess is the string took out a lump of flesh and cauterised the wound as it went), with an ice pack and a few cans of 1664 to stop it from swelling.

DMU_AC saw it...the only time I think i've ever doubled up on a shooting line (Save for shooting in the coldest sports centre in the north without a chest guard...).
