| help on Sights, Stabilisers and clickers please? Hi, I bought a Samick Aguilla and need to buy a sight, stabiliser and clicker for it. I was looking at the Futura 2 stage clicker which sounds quite good http://www.quicksarchery.co.uk/super...hp?product=943. I’m not sure what sight or stabiliser to go for. Can anybody recommend any? I don’t want to spend more than £60 - £70 in total but I will if I have to. Basically I want a good quality stabiliser and sight that will last me when upgrading bows etc, can you recommend any? Out of curiosity what is the difference between say Quicks Q-sight by Cartel and the Sureloc Contender-X 9 Recurve Sight, is it just marketing or is it actually technical? Cheers Mike |

| Yes bieter clickers are the best. There is not alot difference in clickers but more people use beiter clickers and you can get different thickness blades for higher pressure or lower pressure on your arrow. Different thicknesses are personal preference but I would recomend the medium thickness. This is the most common one. Adding onto what tarkwin said any stabaliser will do. Its all down to the doinker (rubber shock absorber) for most setups. Anysetup will be enhanced with a good doinker. Choose your stabaliser on what you like the look of and price but make sure you get a doinker. They make such a big difference. However if I was to recomemnd a Stabaliser it would be either Eastons ACE or Beiter Centraliser or the Doinker ones or Win and Win HMC. However they are all top end gear and will cost a bit. If you want a good rod (not too cheap like the cartel) then you could try the SF rods (Sabastian Flute). These are the same as the Win and WIn ones but a bit cheaper. However a full set (Long Rod and extender and vbar and side rods) will cost well over £100. If you are just after a longrod then most should comewithin your budget and they will last a long time. Im using ACE's and Centraliser and they are about 5 years old and are still going strong. Think the ace's are about 7 years old.

| Targetcraft sells the complete set of Cartel carbon stabilisers for around £70. That includes longrod, twins, v-bar and extender. They've got built in weights and rubbers and if you're on a budget they're very good. Although it's potentially possible to spend the best part of £150 or more on Beiter stabilisers, and a lot of archers here use them and rate them highly. Again, on a budget, Arten make pretty good sights ranging from £50 upwards. The Summit 2 is around £60, and the Olympic is about £90. Again, both very popular. Clickers - personally I'd go for a Beiter. They're only about £7 and are extremely simple to set up and use.

| I would just like to back up Ffish. Just to add on Chiltern archery have started doing a sight. Not sure on the price but its less than £100. I have seen it and its a bit of a rip off of the sureloc but looks good and solid. another budget option to consider. Also it comes in Chrome or Chrome Gold.

| Thanks for all of your help. So how do the v bars connect? Do you screw the v bars onto the riser then screw a rod into the vbars and then a rubber coil on the end of the rod? Are doinkers called anything else cause I looked on quicks and couldn’t find any? I’ve just been looking at the Fuse multi rod 4 inch stabiliser http://www.quicksarchery.co.uk/super...p?product=1245 I like the way its compact, Is it any good do you know? Will it do the job? |

| V-bars connect either directly onto the riser, or (more commonly) onto an extension bar which is usually about 3-4" long. The v-bar will have both a male and female nut/bolt arrangement so you can screw the long rod into it. If you look at the photo of the lovely Miles on the homepage here, you can just about make out the extension bar on his riser, onto which his short rods are connected, either side of the riser. Doinkers are short dampers, mainly used for absorbing vibration after the shot - take a look at page 38 of the current Quicks catalogue, there are loads to choose from. I use a QR09 (W&W Fomax damper) and it's very good. It doesn't however contribute to stabilisation.

| Trying to keep on budget OK, You need to be cheap, so that cuts down all the nice gear listed. There is nothing that badly wrong with a Cartel K-sight. You can aim at the boss with it and its cheap. Just watch out for bits working lose and the windage shifting whilst shooting. Cartel long-rod will work fine for a beginner. Put a cheap limb-saver on the end as a cheap damper. Forget the v-bars and stabs if you are starting out. Add them later when your form has improved rather than using them to hide the bad form. Clicker, Any thin blade one will do you fine for now. Splash out on a Beiter or Cavalier magnetic one if you like as this is one item that you will move from bow-to-bow and are unlikely to grow out of. That will bring you in under £70 (more like £50). Save the other £20 for some second hand v-bar and stabs later or to put towards a sight upgrade later. Sponge. |

| Doinker is a brand name and has become a generic term...much like hoover. some of the doinker range can be seen here The only time I have seen a Fuse being used was on a compound bow.. T.

| The fomax damper is out of stock at quicks, is there an alternative that's just as good? So I think what i'll do is buy the following: Beiter Blue Centraliser = £60 Beiter Clicker = £9 Arten Summit II = £62 That comes to £131, cost £10 more than the cost of my bow! Do you think this is a sensible move or can I buy a stabiliser that will do the same job for half the price? |
