Now all you need to do is repeat that 59 times Might be a bit of a b*gg*r getting the 3 arrows off in 2 minutes though.

On a serious note, sorry to hear about the bow/limbs/head! I hope they fix it quickly for you. I've got a RH 25" Radian here you can borrow for a while if you're stuck and if someone can loan you some limbs?

It may not be hoyts fault? They did supply the bolt with the riser so they should take some of the blame, but I would not be surprised if the bolt is made by and engineering company for Hoyt and Hoyt just attach it to the riser. The failure may be due to a moclecular fault with the alloy and this is a rouge error or it was a faulty bolt and should not have passed the manufactures inspections. I would ask hoyt to send 2 new limb bolts as there is no telling if the other is just as bad.
I work for a manufactureing company and all our metal work is made out of house. I would be surprised if Hoyt dont work in a similar fashion.

Glad to hear you ok. By the way what poundage limbs you use? I shoot 44lb winnex and wondering if mine go if I mite get a bigger bump? Hello law suite
It dosnt matter who supplyed Hoyt with the bolts Hoyt sold them and issued a guarantee to the customer ,its down to hoyt to sort it all out limbs aswell.

Apsolutely. I agree. just saying it maynot be 100% Hoyts fault but then thats besides the point. Yes hoyt supplied the parts so they need to sort it.

Thanks everyone for your kind (or not as the case may be ) words.

I can't stand the "claim" culture, so won't be going down that route. My heads still sore though, so i'll see how it goes, then go and get it checked out if it feels no better.

I e-mailed Sid at border last night, and already have a response before 8:30 this morning.
He's going to check the limbs over for me and let me know exactly whats wrong with them.
This is the second time he's checked the limbs for me at his own expense (bar postage to him). If any other companies are reading this, this is how you get customers for life!

Cheers everyone, Kae.

I don't imagine that Hoyt would have any problem replacing the bolts for you, they would probably replace the limbs as the damage was caused by the Hoyt product failing. I had a Ultrasport compound that the paint just fell of and they replaced that.

I guess from now on you will be able to spot the helix shooters on the line "they are all wearing helmets" maybe you should go for the helmet fitting anyway

kinda looks like it cracked at the area of highest stress which after more than a few days shooting (i'm guessing you have had the bow a while/shot more than a few hundred arrows) would sugest metal fatigue leading to crack propogation, probably compounded by a very small defect in the metal to begin with that would have been almost impossible to detect during or after manufacture.

i doubt hoyt will do x-ray analysis on parts, they might not do any crack detection beyond visual at all.

Hoyt will probably want to see the bolt and/or extreme closeup shots of the area where it broke...but if you want to go the lawyer route i would suggest not letting the bolt end up with them as it might get "lost"...

Looks to me like the limbs don't have the detente system placed far enough down on them, by the directionthe bolt has sheared. Perhaps a longer section between the base of the limb and the detente would have put the pressure on a different part of the limb bolt and stopped the bolt shearing.

Is a Hoyt riser warranty still valid when using another manufacturer's limbs? IIRC, they have the recommendation that Hoyt limbs be used with Hoyt risers... Also, were the limbs wound down to the lowest poundage possible? If the bolt stuck out further than the edge of the riser, that invalidates the warranty...

Not trying to condone the limb bolt snapping (I think it is terrible when things like that happen) but just wondering what could have caused it to happen. I certainly hope Hoyt take care of this and that your limbs are okay after all is said and done! If you do want to borrow a pair, let me know. I've got a couple spare sets lying around - granted not Borders but they should do the trick...
