Broken Helix - The 1st??

My Hoyt Helix finally showed me why it wasn't shooting right tonight.
The top limb bolt failed just as I released.
The limbs exploded from the bow, hitting me very hard on the head (got a huge bump) and then ricocheting off ceiling and brick wall.

To say i'm in shock is an understatement.
I have no faith no in the bow or in Hoyt (as my last bow was an Avalon that also failed).
Its damaged my Border limbs and don't know if they can be repaired (can't afford a new pair).

Just ready to cry

PS - and the arrow that came out of the bow as it exploded? A perfect 10.......

I'm sorry for you loss and injury.

It's fortunate you weren't hurt more. Good luck with the repairs to both...

lol, you should see the ridge in my head!
I'm meant to be going for a cycle helmet fitting on Saturday (my heads too big/wrong shape for normal sized ones), if this gets any bigger i'll have to postpone it!
damn and blast
Thanks everyone for your kind words.
I'm just so worried about my Border Limbs, will Hoyt repair them??????

Sorry to hear of your sad tale, hope you are'nt badly hurt. Was it the riser or the bolt that went? Wonder if the bolt is the same type as used in the other Hoyt risers?

Just noticed your stats for posts 666

Sorry to hear that you were hurt must have been a frightening experience at least it was not the bottom limb that could have been really painful. But seriously I would get your head checked out especially if as a result you have a headache.

From the photo, the limbs just look chipped. Give them a lateral twist in your hands (gently!), if there's any cracking noise you might have a problem but it's unlikely. If there is something massively wrong with them you'll have to take them back to Border because Hoyt won't touch them (much like they wouldn't do anything about a pair of Winexes or Extremes.)

Send the photos to your dealer/Hoyt, explain what has happened, they'll probably apologise massively and send you a new limb bolt. If you're really lucky, they'll FedEx it to you so you can get it within a few days...

sorry but gotta laugh at the fed ex comment..

more serious note : that is really bad and not something i would expect from the pinnacle of hoyts 75 years of bow making and what have you.

i hope your limbs get sorted too - hoyt may not touch them but damn they should replace them.

hope it dosnt knock your confidence either. keep positive.
