URGENT help required re Palm PDA's & TargetPlot Lite

Hi all

Please can someone tell me what the minimum specification of a palm handheld (PDA) that is to run TargetPlot lite?

The PDA that I have in mind is a Palm Zire (M150): -

Processor: Motorola MC68EZ328 16 MHz
RAM: 2 MB
ROM 2 MB
Wireless Connectivity: IrDA
Input Device: Touch-screen, stylus
Operating System: Palm OS 4.1

Is this sufficient?

Many thanks in advance!

Try the Target plot site.

http://www.targetplot.com.au/targlite.htm

This is the best place to look.

The one your looking at runs palmos v4 and Target plot needs v2. It should be ok.

You should be fine with your Palm.

Minimum spec requirement (from Targetplot website)

A Palm handheld, PalmOS v2 or better, see Palm Links for more information
IBM-compatible 486 PC or better, with;
Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, or XP
Palm HotSync Manager v3.0.1 or higher
16MB RAM & 30MB available hard disk space
CD-ROM drive (3.5" diskettes available on request)
One available serial port, (USB for later models)

Many thanks Schme1440 & Field Archer.

Yes, I had a look at the TP website but is does not specify what Ram/Rom is required on the Palm. I emailed TP 2 days ago, but have had no response thus far. My intention is to buy the Palm today, hence the urgency.

I/you can get a BRAND NEW Zire for £26.99, if you are interested, I will give you the details!

Thanks again

palm applications tend to be very small, well under 2MB. It's the data files that tend to get out of hand..

in the case of the download this is 141KB...I think I'm right in saying that this is all the memory that is needed to run the application.

The data compression's not bad I have got my entire sales contact database(including all contact details and notes some going back years) of 7000 plus clients on an old palm c and it takes up only 1.5mb. Recently I enquired about a pocket PC and needed a minimum of 512mb to be sure I could do the same thats progress & sloppy programming for you.

In fact I have target plot plus loads of other applications including emails aside from the standard ones and still only manage to have used up 2.3mb of the 8mb available. Pitty "Bow Buddy" have no intention of porting over to palm

Good evening to you all!

Sincere thanks to all who have posted thus far.

TargetPlot replied to my email later this morning and confirmed that the Palm Zire [M150] is OK for the job.

I have now picked up my Zire [£25 for cash] and it works.

I can vouch that the above organisation exists, I visisted their premises. [I have no vested financial connection with same.]

I was informed that they have about 30 odd units in stock!

Hope this helps!

I have to admit to being a bit boggled when I read the first post in this thread... I started using TargetPlot on an old Handspring Visor Platinum, which was a far lower spec than any reasonably current machine! It was better on the Palm M130, I used to use it on, and better still on my current Tungsten E2, but the differences were largely cosmetic, rather than functional (colour, higher def screen etc).
