aerotec + winex's

Hi all,
Father Ch$*%tmas dosn't know it yet but he is bringing me some new limbs, early, in a few weeks infact

I don't want to get into the old "this limb is better than that limb because".... etc,
but has anybody tried winex's on an aerotec riser as it's the winnex's I'm considering buying? If so??????
Many thanks,
Dave.

I shot my Winex limbs out of my Aerotec and they were fine. If you are changing from Hoyt limbs to Winex though the most difficult decision is what draw weight to go for. (My Aerotec is and early one but upgraded to the 2005/2006 dowel)

At a 31.5" draw length I was looking at 42 or 40# 70" W&W. 38# G3 and 36# Samick Extremes. (All of which work very well in the Aerotec). All gave about the same weight at full draw

Was it anything specific you were after?

Not after anything particular, it was just I haven't seen this combination mentioned and was wondering if there was a problem, with it.

With reguards to limb weight, I'm not too sure what to do, my arrows are 27.5 inches, so my draw length is quite short compared to yourself. I currently have medium limbs giving a 68" bow but am wondering whether to go to shorter limbs to give me more cast ????

I think I will have to try both sizes and see.

My current limbs are 36lb, but the bow is wound up and I have approx 39lb on my fingers, I was considering a small increase but don't want to go too far.

Dave.

You may find that your Winex work out more comparably with your Hoyts for weight then. They are accurate at the measured position. However, to get the smoothness at full draw high end they don't rack up the way you'd expect.

I'd guess start with Winex 66" 40# and see how that goes. Due to the smoothness you may go up to 42#.

One thing to watch out for - and it is the reason I no longer own the Winex - I found (and this may only apply to ME, YMMV etc) that I was not as stable at full draw with the Winex limb. I think this is due to the slower weight increase. I am noticeably more stable with G3 and Samick Extreme at the same weight. When I go up 2-4# the Winex aim better... and feel great for about 50 arrows.

If you're goining down length make sure you have a decent string in the shorter length. Testing 68" with good string vs 66" with shop string is a waste of time

As far as the AT/Winex combo goes - if you are happy with the AT I think you'll definitely like it with the Winex - I think it is a nice combo. I felt that the Helix suited the Smaick and Hoyt limb better - BUT there are plenty of others on here who'd disagree!

Enjoy
