| Sebastien Flute riser... Hey, Getting a bout of GAS. That's Gear Acquisition Syndrome for any that wonder over to www.talkbass.com. I'm giving thoughts to one of the Sebastien Flute risers, they seem absolutely brilliant for the price from the reviews I've read. Anyone have opinions on them here? I'll pop off to dublin one day and try one before buying ![]() L

| SF Riser Hi Psych, Yes I have the SF riser, I bought it secondhand about 6 weeks ago and I like it! I went from a stylist setup which i'd had for about 4 years, so the change necessitated new limbs as well. It was really the need for new limbs that sent me on a quest for a riser, I looked at a few and, for the money, I felt that the SF fitted the bill. If I had have had more cash then it would have been the samick master. I would say it is a smallish riser in terms of not being bulky and it is light. The finish on it is painted rather than anodised,it is well finished but I suspect that it may chip if handled badly. As to performance; I don't know, there's that 'new bow syndrome' that kicks in to tell us that we have spent money wisely and this is the best set up since the invention of sliced bread! Well yes, I get better sight marks now and have improved my york scores but that is a function of the limbs rather than the riser. All I can say is that value wise, it is excellent and feels good in your hand. The only advice I can offer is that you try it and maybe compare it with other mainstream risers - all of which will probably cost more! Good Luck! JohnnyB ![]() |

| Little unkown fact about SF riser (some may know this). The SF riser is manufactured by W&W for SF so in reality the SF riser is a W&W riser and we all know how good and popular they are. Go for it.

| SF Riser Yes it is a W&W in disguise! In fact it feels very similar to my daughters Winact. I was told it was very much a 'copy' of the old yamaha super forged which w&w acquired sometime ago. Many people were very pleased with the yamaha. It does seem to have a fine pedigree. |

| Spooky, I only just mentioned GAS over on the new W&W riser thread ![]() |

| I thought that the SF riser was named after this guy..who did a lot of the design work on it. but it might be a cover story for W&W flooding the market with their products under a variety of names. [/conspiracy theory] T.

| Well you look me in the eye and tell me that This ![]() Doesnt look like this http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=...sports/sff.gif Yeah Mr Flute may have designed the SF riser but he took his origonal specsfrom the Yami rsier. Dont get me wrong i aint aveing a go at SF but (like the Browning/Petron s3) the SF riser was designed from a predecessor.

| the yamaha image is a little small...but you are probably right. evolution rather than revolution the limb pocket adjustment mechanism is definitely W&W tho', I lent someone the tools & book that came with my Toz so he could adjust the #age on his SF. T.

| Have said this before but it's always worth saying again... it's excellent value for money, a well made riser and reliable. Nice to shoot and performs well (at least up to 1250!!! ) I know some people (including myself) were not very impressed with the grip, though this can be altered easily enough. Now, why is it so cheap I hear you ask. Well, and this is second hand info. so don't quote me on it, when the riser first came out, the price was an introductory trial price (by the stores that sold it first) and because of that, other stores had to follow suite. It was not meant to be a £150 riser! Good news for us though. |
