Technique- possible problem??

Hi was wonderin if its a prob the way i draw.

when i draw its correct but my right hand is to the side of my chin and i use my thumb to act as an anchor to my jawbone to keep it steady.
I cant get a string picture cos thats not possible cos the way i draw. I'm a noob an do people recon I should quite the habit or not??

if the discription is not very helpfull let me know.

Thanks

Seb.

Edit>> I group better the way I draw.

I used to group better when I gripped the bow.......as a noobie

Try drawing your string back along your bow arm (some people run their little finger along the bow arm to be sure).....this will bring your anchor under your chin to your jaw - keep your thumb out of the way.

IMHO....the thumb can't give you a perfect constant each time.......but I will stand corrected by more experienced archers who know better!!

Hello using the thumb is not the best anchor as there is too much movement
possibly the only way an opposable thumb causes problems
get yourself a platform tab this will give you a much more consistent anchor

From the description you`ve given it sounds like your drawing back but keeping your hand away from your face (are you afraid the string will catch your face ?) if so don`t be the string moves away from the face not towards
Try using the platform tab so that when you are at full draw the tab is in contact just under your jaw and the string is against the tip of your nose.
This gives you 2 reference points for your anchor and if you practice it and get it consistent will help tighten up your grouping.

Agreed. Take a look at some of the vids I have posted on youtube. These mite help you to visualise what is being discuessed. My vids (big guy with gold bow and beard) show an anchor under the chin. the vids from the olympics show people anchoring "down the side of the face". In both instances notice though how the hand is tight to the face and not floating as it apears yours if. Oh and my beard has never got caught in my string, ever.
