I think it will be late '60's early '70's There is one in our club shooting as good as the day it was made, unlike some of the Korean stuff of today!

Limbs tended to be less stressed in those days.

Thanks guys I now have a little more idea of the bows age. Another question how many of you archers out there also shoot older bows as I do for field ect. as well as the new stuff for target?.

I have a GreenKat Clubmaster 38lbs@28" - I don't shoot it much, as I mainly shoot target, but I keep it in case I get the chance of shooting field. I was given it by a friend at work, who said it had been in his attic for years! It is in good condition, and I was told by a local shop that it is probably 60's vintage. Kev

I have several old recurves that date between 30 and 40 years old.

| yep - this was my first bow. Purchased from Aylesbury Toxophily Crafts (ATC) way back in 1975 - I would say that they were introduced around this time, maybe 1974 but no earlier. Prior to this you would have been looking at the relatively much more expensive Marksman bows - Forest Knight and Forest Princess for around the £60 mark. I think it cost about £25 back then. It was a great little bow, very basic (no long rod bush, no pressure button hole). I think mine was 26lb - I shot 1413 24SRTX arrows (cheaper than XX75's) and for a while fluo green Bjorn Featherflex. I used to get 100yds with this bow, sighting on the gold. My best portsmouth was 549. I used to make my own stabilisers (after I got a long rod bush fitted) from old arrows, lead and araldite. Great until the glue failed...... Aahhh, the good old days. | Cheers Simon my bow has a long rod bush and a adjustable rest mount that just moves the rest in and out on a metal plate via a large brass knob on the outside of the sight window it also has a Arten R10 sight that is complete but not fitted at the moment the rest is a very old bjorn with two little nylon flaps to rest the arrow on. I will post a photo tomorrow after the Perris shoot it may bring back memorys of simpler times. If you got a 549 portsmouth with yours maybe I should have a go and see how well I can do with the Arten sight, Dacron string, ally longrod and old xx75 gold arrows with swage ends. Mybe the Hoyt will have to go! NOT |

Don't be so sure about your maybe's A sweet shooting bow and slow arrow can be very forgiving and very good to shoot, and indoors you don't need the speed.
