hoyt riser with samick limbs

i was making a string for a lad in my club, he has a hoyt matrix with masters limbs on it. normaly for a 68" bow a 63 1/2" string will be somewhere close. although the string i made gave him a 10 " brace height!!. i had to make the string an inch longer in order for it to fit. strange hey!!! bow measured at 68 3/4" pretty strange. anybody else had any bad combinations?

I understood that a 65" string was the right length for a 68" bow.........
Just got a Matrix myself and noticed the handles actually about 1/2" longer than my old W&W Striker.

Hoyt's own specs suggest a string 3" shorter than the bow. So the 65" Craig has suggested is probably close to the mark.

I've been warned (on this forum) about mixing limbs & risers from different manufacturers - not that it's a bad idea, but you just have to be aware that they might behave (or measure!) a little differently than if you had limbs & riser from the same manufacturer.

Here's one of the threads where folks in the know can do a better job of explaining this than I can...

Hi, I have the same problem with my KG Kudos, with any limbs. It is explained in this case by the distance between the limb bolts. The KG is 51.5 cm apart (in a straight line from where they screw into the riser), whereas most other 25" risers (except perhaps the Sirius and Matrix?) are 50cm. Every set of limbs ends up mounted 1.5cm further apart than most risers. I find a "standard" string for a 68" ends up with no twists in it and still over braced. I just get 1cm longer strings.
As far as my own experience goes, the only problems with mixing limbs/risers from different manufacturers is the poundage may vary from that stated. Longer risers seem to give slightly lower poundages. I just wind it up a bit.
