Tiller

having recieved a copy off "The Heretic Archer" for christmas i`ve read it and one of the things that i`m considering from the book is "Zero Tiller"
and was jsut wondering what others thoughts are on this subject
as in do you shoot with Zero Tiller or by how much do you offset the Tiller ?

I've always followed the advise of McKinney if when drawing the string back in a straight line the sight pin rises strengthen the bottom limb.

Hmm think i may just play about wiht the tiller for a bit one afternoon
will set it with Zero and see what happens
then adjust it in slight increments
and see how that ends up
unless of course zero tiller brings about some small miracle where my arrows are unable to miss the ten ring

Depends on the limbs you're using, the pressure point on the grip and your stabilisation system. I found if I shot zero tiller with my Border XP10 limbs I got an awful lot of limb flutter.

Incidentally, I've seen video of and watched in person Frangilli shooting, and he seems to get limb flutter whatever limbs he's shooting with. Doesn't hurt his scores, mind you

Personally couldn't get on with zero limb tiller. Shot it for 3 months, before I realised what the hell was going wrong.

Using Hoyt Helix and Border XP10's.

Kae.

Of course you have to remember the golden rule of tuning:-
any change to your settings makes your groups bigger
returning the settings to their original positions makes the groups bigger

you have tiller so that the energy of the bow goes straight through the arrow through the pile, not down towards the hand or up towards the sight. does that make sense?

it's because the nock point isn't in the middle of the bow, and i know that the limbs aren't the same stiffness, but, i think you still need to adjust tiller so that the force in the bow is directed through the arrow.

i hope it's clear what i'm trying to say!!

Don't forget the nocking point/vertical position of your arrow rest when you're playing.

I shoot my Helix G3's and my Infinite Synergy's with near enough zero tiller (1mm to be precise). Works for me.
