Yeh, I'm with TJ Mason on this. A string should settle a little when new and then not stretch anymore. If it keeps stretching then there is something wrong with the string . . . I'm glad you're getting a new one made.

There will be some settle in the string if some of the strands were not tensioned the same during the initial setup on the jig.

Making your own is good but beware the first few may settle a bit!
