I suggest if you can afford it to get a formaster you can do the same thing by holding the bow but without the release hand holding the string. Additional you can use it to shoot from which could help your loose and the pads of your fingers. I know it may cost you some pence but it is worth it.

Generally holding on the pads does not give you a cleaner release as the string is forced around your fingers on release and increases the horizontal movement of the string however a deeper grip allows the string to gently push the fingers out of the way and stay more on course providing you have a relaxed hold.

WARNING: NOOBIE RATIONALE FOLLOWS....
I would have thought that less finger in contact with the string would result in less to shift out of the way??? However, I am sure that I had heard previously that a deeper hook was preferable.

I will give it a go tomorrow night. Thanks for all the replies etc, much appreciated.

True in theory but you have to put more tension in to your fingers to hold the string in position which translates in to stiffer fingers which are not so relaxed during the release and the string has to go around rather than moving them to one side, have fun tomorrow and find what works for you.

Makes sense...I'll see how I get on tomorrow.
