Question Computer Archery

Does any one now of a computer program that lets you practice archery using your bow, i know it seems a daft question but i was thinking if there was some way to connect your bow to your computer you could practice your form at home:huh:

All sounds a bit dangerous to me! I'd probably go through a lot of monitors

Hehe, yes I do

There's a few simulation programs around - you put in all your arrow info. weather details and it'll plot where you arrows going to hit; not sure if that's the sort of thing you're after! Can't remember the name of the prog at the mo' (age again) but I'll have a root around see if I can find it.

A long time ago, in a land far away I seem to recall there being an attachment that went on your bow that acted like a 'damper' (I believe it could fire airgun darts out of the end of it).

But I can't imagine that gives the same feel to a shot.:hcry:

I've just found a Java sim here

http://www.zewall.com/bow.htm

A bit rough and ready and takes a bit of getting used to (tip - aim well above the target)

Somewhere in the back of my my mind is a memory of this device. An attachment that fired .22 airgun pellets from a bow. I can't for the life of me remember where I saw it. Perhaps it is just the result of a fevered imagination

I don't think it was the Excerset though.

Edit. It was the Vibracheck Airbow and it was darts that it fired.

Well, although nothing is impossible, I'm not sure how you'd go about it! You can't dry fire your bow, so you'd need either a dampening system for your real bow, or a fake bow with right feel to it.

Then you'd have to get the directional input, aiming point etc, what about the timing and the release, important parts of the whole shot.....

Actually come to think of it, it does seem nigh on impossible!!!!

Maybe it could be made simpler by using a web cam to look at your stance, timing and where your hand ends up after release, but I'm not sure how you'd get an aiming point.

It sounds like a lot of money would need to be speant on R&D just to see if it was possible.

BTW I work as an artist in the computer games industry so it might cloud my judgement
