| Well if £0.00 worth of grip works for you OK, I happened to need a high grip and compared to a £70 Loesch mine was a bargain.

| With some slight mods my Best grips will fit my Hoyt riser and the Hoyt grips fit the Best riser easily. I like the Best grips as they come rather blocky and allow plenty of material to customize and bring them down. I've settled lately on about a 30° angle and a contour similar to the Hoyt medium plastic grip. I guess I would call it a medium low hoyt style grip. A small drill press and sanding drum works great for this. |

| Grip Mods I've just carved a new grip for my Hoyt Radian from a piece of hardwood door-frame. You can check your grip by taping some masking tape to your grip. Then draw a line on the tape in felt-tip down the middle of grip. Take a few shots with the bow and look at your hand to see where the felt-pen has come off. You should aim for the pressure/contact point on your hand to be inside your life-line and the line at the base of your thumb, on the base thumb muscle. You can mark your hand where you think it should be and then try a few more shots to see where the marks appear on the tape on your grip. Any contact outside your life-line may induce torque when you shoot. The grip should have a small flat area in the middle of the ideal pressure/contact point. A lot depends on how you hold your bow-hand: straight, bent down or up at the elbow. Putty may be easier than carving. Once your happy with the putty version you could then attempt to carve it. |
