| Are you right or left handed?

| First of all, check your bow is aligned and that the arrow and button are set up properly. Dial the button tension to a medium setting which gives a decent group size. Adjust the nocking point to get the bare shaft landing at the same height as the fletched. Then, assuming you're right handed and you have a riser with adjustable pockets, put a small turn on each limb bolt to increase the draw weight. Remember to adjust each bolt identically. Shoot a few ends, take note of the position of the bare shaft, and adjust again if necessary. If you're left handed, bare shaft left indicates a weak shaft. If you have the adjustment room, turn the weight down. Otherwise you may have to look at getting the arrows trimmed down a little (if you can). This sort of thing is covered in various tuning guides on the net, such as the Archers' Reference and Tuning for Tens. Google is your friend ![]() | |||||||||||||

| assuming you are right handed, then increasing the bracing height may help somewhat. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Remember that you don't want to line up the string with the center of the bow and then down middle of the arrow: the arrow should be about a half an arrow diameter to the left of the string since the fingers deflect the string to the left (assuming you are right handed), so this is the point at which the arrow will actually be released and start towards the target. (There's more detail than you'd ever need at "Tuning for Tens" on the texasarchery.org site. Yes, physics is the same out there and some Texans actually know something. | Your arrows are too stiff! Just shoot them and forget about tuning if you are only going to shoot them indoors. Outdoors, now that's a different ball game!! | |||||||||||||||||

| My 500 spine Fatboy bare shafts go 6 foot to the left at 20 yards. Just move your sight and group the fletched arrows in the gold. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| i had a similar problem with tuning where bareshafts were going off about 6ft to the left , turned out i needed arrows a clean 2 grades whipper and they are perfect now. My groups have improved to only a couple of inches across at most these days, and bareshafts in that stiffness land smack in the middle of them. Took a night of tuning with the club coaches but was worth it ![]()
