Carbon or Aluminium (Indoors)

I have shot both carbon and aluminium indoors. I would like comments from others regarding their preferences. I have just reasontally returned to carbon for indoors as I have found it a pain changing buttons and rests every week as I shoot all year round. I do however shoot on seperate target so not bothered with other arrows hitting mine. Get less line cutters, but does that matter, I suppose it does if you shoot above a 570 fita. I note that most indoor records for FITA and others are acheived with carbon, or am I wrong there. I pull 44lbs on 31.5 draw length so you can imagine the size of my aluminium,s there like telegraph poles.
All comments welcomed good or bad so fire away.

I think the best thing for shooting indoor are aluminium arrows...they are cheap, and in matters of straigthness and wheight tolerance, they are better than the carbon or carbon alimunium (the Easton X7 is better than the Easton X10, in these parameters). So now, is just a matter of choosing..I have a berger button and two strings just for indoor.

Just wondering - where do you find details of arrows used for indoor or indeed outdoor records?

I'm using my ACEs instead of 2213s this year - they seem to be going more in the middle (fewer dodgy shots that go in the 7) but when I'm not shooting particularly well I'm getting fewer linecutter tens and it IS costing me. That said, when I'm shooting well, the scores are a lot higher than last year.

Go figure. I think I prefer the ACEs, but will occasionally weep bitter tears that I don't have my chunky old alis any more.

It depends on what sort of scores you are shooting. At that poundage and draw length, I'd recommend going for ally's because you can benefit from the size of the shafts that will spine correctly from your bow.
Carbons indoors is a bad idea unless you are shooting exclusively tri-spot targets. I use tri-spots all the time now because I keep damaging ally shafts. And killing an ACE is a lot more pricey than an X7!
As an alternative to shooting with a different rest and button each week, you could take my approach and have a completely different bow for indoors and outdoors!

Is the second bow also a spare for outdoors? are they interchangeable or different in poundage etc,

Hi
I have also just separated my indoor setup from outdoor. Indoor bow is 32# to allow for controlled aiming , outdoor is 40# for optimum sight marks.

ACE's outdoor and X7's indoor.

But hey - if you shoot in the middle carbons leave more room for multiple X's!

Reality is that any set up suited to you will work indoors. And you are better off getting a good reliable setup rather than fiddling with buttons, etc.

Sorry Mick - even expensive plastic bows from Italy count as a 'fiddle'.

Mmm Carbon fibre if you don't mind Friar -6 bows- Tuck. :-)

All I know is that my average indoor scores are the same whether I shoot ACEs or fat 2114 allies.

Mick

In spite of the advice to use aluminium arrows I stuck with my ACCs- simply because I feel more confident with them & have made all my decent & PB scores with them. I'll take the gamble on additional damage during the indoor season- at leats with ACCs you can still replace a single arrow if necessary.
