Grip

Having just filmed myself and noticed a problem with the way I hold the riser I thought I would post to see what style everone else uses to hold the riser. Would have posted a poll but no idea how to. I now use a pistol grip, thumb and 2 fingers on grip others tucked in to palm. Is this a well used method?

Yes, it's one of the fairly common right methods.

Talking

I try to relax my hand the fingers naturally curl round grip but do not touch the grip .If I tuck fingers into my palm my hand twists causing my bow on release to twist top limb right ,bottom limb left . but I have modfied my handle to look more like a .22 target pistol grip

Good point madmac. I really dislike my handle but its club bow. was thinking of trying the ones I've seen where the use some kind of putty (I think) to make you a grip specific the your own hand. Hopefully this will help stabilise my technique.

i shoot open handed, using a fingersling that was a wrist sling till i canabalised it...

My try to relax my hand as much as possible, something i find difficult with thinner grips which force my hand closed around it, my fingers tend to curl around the front of the bow anyway, but don't actually touch the riser until the bow has tilted forwards

I'm shocked... a compliment from NDY (i must be doing something right)... i'm anticipating the sudden, but inevetiable, rebuttal... maybe something along the lines of "shame about the rest of your style"

It's the method I use. The 2 fingers aren't actually on the grip - just curled around it. Also the two tucked in fingers make no contact with the bow.

I find open handed more comfortable for me, using a finger sling.
