Bottom line - I've no idea.
Advice: Go & try some & then tell us. (beg/borrow all of the ones that are in use at your club, be they other archers' main kit, spares or hand me downs. See what feels right to you & what gives the balance & behaviour that you like.)
Then go buy one just like that (or try some others at the shop & get one that feels even better
The fashions for stabilisers come & go at same rate that new versions are released by the makers. Ignore them if you can.

I'll go along with that. It is a very personal thing, you can only be guided by what feels right by all means beg borrow or otherwise aquire.
All the best

One piece of advice, make sure that you can see your point of aim, over the end of the rod, at your furthest distance.

Then pick any length that feels comfortable up to that limit.

Good point MM - that is exactly how I had to pick mine as I couldn't see the target at 80 yards!!

Also, don't be fooled into thinking you must have a 'v-bar' either, take your time and beg/ borrow / steal (maybe not the latter) to test things out. If you have a good local supplier, they might let you play a little at their shop.

Somebody told me that you start with a length thats just a bit longer than your arrows. If you go for a multirod then it needs to be 2-3 inchs longer again.

I thought about you when I made the point, as I know that was your problem.

The end of my rod sat on the inner 9 ring at 100yds, (they don't call it a longrod for nothing) so it made it much easier to sight on the gold at that distance.

Still couldn't hit the bŁ**%y thing consistently enough though.

That's similar to the advice I was given. I'm shooting 28" arrows and my longrod (plus weights etc) is about 29".

Talking

I thought it was decided by

The size of your bow bag

How tall you were and will the bow be comfortable to rest on the rod as you talk

or

Can you fit the bow in your car without taking any bits off
