Hold an arrow horizontally between your two forefingers, the nock against your left forefinger. For LH fletching (and LW feathers) the vane\feather will be LOWER at the nock end and angled UPWARDS towards the pile end.

Is the jig that you are referring to an Arten Jig (the vertcial type)?
