I've got about 5m of range in my back yard. Its quite secluded and is about 2m below ground floor level. This means I can stick my boss in the corner formed by the house and the steps down to the yard. To shoot over the wall I'd have to lift my bow to 45+ degrees.

Now I've just got to get my superbutt out of storage...I feel a New Year's resolution coming on.

The arrow went through a (thankfully open) window and into a grass bank. This sparked a midnight hunt to find the arrow with some mates later on that night.

It was a quick and sharp wake-up call. After that it was safety first and everything else second.

The thought of it still makes me shiver (the arrow was a few feet from a parked car) .

Red face Practice

I have a field at the side of the house which has 3 128cm straw bosses permanently set up. these are covered to protect them against the elements. this allows me to shoot up to 100 yards all year round.

When the weather is really bad (like now) I have a target set up in the shed which gives me about 10 meters.

Unfortunately I live in a flat with a communal garden.....being as we're not allowed to have washing driers up I doubt the Gestapo...sorry residents committee would look kindly upon me shooting.

Additionally, the ceilings in the flat are too low to allow me practice my draw inside.

Medium sized danage foam boss on workbench in garage, backstop netting behind, I have put 2 x 500 watt floodlights in as well so I can shoot approx 15 mts down the drive or aboy 6 mts indoors.

No unfletched shafts though as I have trashed 3 in the past.

Well set-up for plenty of bare bale shooting then.

i shoot along my upstairs landing between the top of the stairs, along the (short) corridor bit and then into the wardrobe in my room. range of about 4or5m or something once i'v lifted my left arm up.

the target is an empty beer box stuffed with clean disposable nappies. stops the arrows very well. this is put in a plastic supermarket bag and hung inside the wardrobe on a hanger.

if i miss:
above are some maths textbooks
below and left is the back of the wardrobe
to the right is my clothes (now organised with the shirts i dont like closer to the target and the ones i like far away from the target).

works quite well although its a bit noisy and i tend to get interupted by flatmates on the stairs and in their rooms etc.
