Why are the English rounds we shoot so named?

It's because Canada is half-British and half-French, so they wanted an Imperial-style round but had to compromise with metric measures to appease les Quebecoise.

I suppose the Wetherby round is so named because whether it's shot or not depends on what the weather be.

Yup, that was my guess. Apparently according to "the ArcheryGuy" who is one of the Victoria Bowmen on Vancouver Island, the Canucks now almost never shoot a Canadian - unless it's a Quebequois? - in competition.
