'Jack' hurchill shot as a membe of the Btitish Team in the World Champinships held in Oslo in 1939. The event was won by France, with GB in second place ahead of the Sweden. The individual )mems)m winer was Roger Beday (Fr); Second Gaston Questerman(Fra) and third ws A. (Adrian ??) Mole (G.Br)The next ime the Championships were held , post-War was in Stockholm in 1946. GB did not rank in the first three! but achieved third place in 1953, 1967 and 1969.A certain In 1971 the championships were staged in York where the winner was a certain John Williams(USA) who had finished scond the previous year in Valley Forge. No relation -at least I don't think so! J.W went on to win the first Olympic Gold for Archery in 1972 in Munich.. Highest placed Briton was Simon Terry - 3rd place in 1992 Barcelona. Highest placed woman in the Olympics has been Alison Williamson , 3rd in Athens 2004. Interesting about the surnames !!! GB men achieved 3rd place inTeam events in 1988 and 1992; the ladies have yet to figure in the team medals.
