| A saying which is often heard in an archery shop, issued by an attentive member of staff and which is often thought of by prospective purchasers. It is *Pull the other one*. Last edited by Old Bloke; 28-02-07 at 05:33 PM. |

| "never cast a clout till may is out". had never heard this saying until last may when two ppl (not archers) said it to me,both within two days off each other and about 50 miles apart. Not until the second person said it to me did it dawn on me what it meant. They both said this phrase in response to how windy it was. Cast = flight of the arrow ...... Clout = the round we shoot at (180yds).

| 'Matched up' 'Nocked up' 'Screwed up' 'taken down' refering to my arrows not my lovelife- oh hang on, yeh - both. Archery origin: Got new shafts...fletched and nocked....too weak....ran arrowsaw thorough wrong place...learned something but it cost me....more careful in what I do with my equipment nowdays. nuff said ![]() |
