... well there's interesting! Sadly not true, but close. You're referring to males who used to have to self catheterise because of some urethral obstruction, for example an urethral stricture, or possibly those of us who se advancing years result in enlarged and obstructive prostate glands. It is true some patients were known to keep their catheters in their hatbands, when hats were popular and prostatectomies uncommon.
