Hunt for local club

I have recently moved to Buckie on the Moray coast and am looking for a local'ish club.

I have tried Lossie but as I am not a member/immediate family member of someone in the RAF it doesn't appear that I can join them.

Have tried GNAS website - failed

Have tried SAA website - failed there too

Have even tried the suggested Forres House Archery Club website but its no longer active and the email is returned as unknown too.

Any ideas gratefully received. I don't mind a bit of a drive - Lossie, Elgin, Keith, Banff etc would all be ideal. Forres at a push. Fraserburgh is a bit too far. Aberdeen is way too far.

Thanks in advance.

(Please note this theme is repeated in my Hello thread)

Jan, I'm in Elgin. I shoot at Milne's High School, Fochabers on a Tuesday night during the dark Moray winters 6-8.30pm. You'd be very welcome. The rest of the time I shoot at Cawdor as a member of Inverness Field Archery Club. They have an excellent 28 target field course, club hut, and three practice ranges with access 365 days a year. Bit of a drive from Buckie though. You could also try Keith Grammar School on a Thursday night. Maybe catch you around sometime?

Cheers for that, Sorry didn't reply quicker - I'm blaming Santa.

Please let me know the date of first evening shoot at Fochaber after New Year and I'll be there!

Have a good Xmas and New Year.

No probs. You may also be interested in Forres House - GNAS club and pretty serious about their archery there. I will get a contact number for you. And I will let you know when Milne's opens - I think it's the first Tuesday the schools go back after the Christmas break. If you are interested in field archery I'd be happy to drag you along to Cawdor in March when the club goes back outside again although I shoot the course all year round as I get a day off work during the week. Some good national & international shooters there but most of them decamp to a warmer & drier Inverness sports stadium over the winter. I suppose frostbite doesn't help your form much but personally i think the course is beautiful and peaceful with a foot of snow over everything. Have a good Christmas yourself and hopefully get to say hello in 2006.

Thanks. Have been to Forres a couple of times. Its ok but its a bit far and they seem to have a lot of problems with gangs of youths hanging around outside threatening people and I often wonder if my car is going to get further damage (its already be scratched and dented in the car park on one night alone).

I have never tried field archery but I would fancy a go. I shoot recurve though, does that matter?

Let me know about the January reopening of Milne though as I would be very keen to come to that one. I live in Buckie so that one's really handy.

Have a good Xmas

Hi, as far as I know archery will restart at Milnes High School on Tuesday night anytime from about 6pm onwards. Don't know if I will be there tomorrow - I had a weird little growth thing cut off my finger 10 days ago and it hasn't fully healed yet. Speak to John or Andy but I will say hello if I'm there.
