Archery Facilities in Kintyre

We are shortly to have our yearly pilgrimage to our favourite part of Scotland. We know this area is a little off the beaten track, which is one of the reasons we like it so much, but if we could find any facilities for archery our holiday would be complete. Have you heard of anything?

Jings you will be lucky, hrmmm ive never heard of anything up there, that is unless there are any commercial setups for tourists etc There may be field archery, but Im doubtfull. Archery in Scotland and the islands isnt as widespread as it is in england and wales, I know some people that travel 30 miles to the nearest archery club. Good luck.

Alternatively take your kit and a practice butt, find a field owned by a friendly farmer and have fun

For the really scenic venues, set up a butt on one of the fabulous stretches of beaches down the west coast. The views might be a bit distracting!

We trained a couple of people from Campbeltown about 4 years ago with the intent on starting a club there. They joined our club until they could get things going - location(s) to shoot, grant for equipment, advertise for more people, etc. It didn't happen and we've not heard from them for a few years now. There are no clubs or other facilities in that part of the world as far as I know which means Oban is the nearest you will find and we are 90 miles from Campbeltown. If you are near then PM me and I'll let you know when we shoot.

I believe there is also a small SAA club on the Island of Luing you might get a shot with. Also a BLBS longbow club shoots just south of Oban. Also Oban Shooting and Fishing Club in Oban. None of them anywhere near Kintyre though

A 'knife & axe' thrower from Carradale sometimes calls in to watch us shoot, I know that his young son shoots flatbow on his land down there. Next time he drops by I'll try and arrange access for you and pm his reply
Hope he turns up before you set off!
