Got back from Sundays exceeedingly wet York session at 21.55 after leaving home at 06.00
i was cold damp and knackered
but nice to meet Ffish and Flighty + several other Archers on my target and surrounding targets
(inc the chap with the amazing carved wooden Quiver)

i shot pretty poorly missing with all 6 sighters
(double whammy forgot to move sight down and aimed at wrong target)
"sorted" that out and scored an almight 1 for the first end
finishing up with a paltry 694 missing a 1st class score by 4
which i`m a little disappointed with as generally i shoot around a 37 Handicap
which would mean a score somewhere in the high 880`s
aah well there`s always tomorrows Fita (i must be mad)

Sprog on the other hand suprisingly enjoyed the day greatly
(tbh i expected nonstop moaning about being cold and wet)
and she also got another Medal, which apparently is better than the others

Wet, wet, wet!

Well, that was the wettest wet shoot this side of Wetsville on a wet Sunday afternoon! Good to meet you Steve, and good to see your sprogg saw it through to the end - mine didn't!
Bearing in mind I've never shot 100 yards before, I came away with 689, which is on par for what I'm shooting lately, so I wasn't too disappointed. The weather was a major factor in low scores though - I reckon my gear will takes days to dry out! It's definitely character building though!
Rachel did really well (she beat us both!) and we all looked like drowned rats by the end of it all - I was just glad to get back to the warm & dry!

Luckily my military training enables me to ignore driving rain... although I did have a couple of 'shiver misses'! I really enjoyed today! Can't beat a bit of weather, and I scrounged the loan of the best tent on the line when Rob went awol!

Well done on the score FR i brought a PopaBivy yesterday not long after arriving and realising just how wet it was gonna get, but it was at the other end of the line from me Sprog had the tent i got a Chair to collect rain water in
This morning after running round the house collecting up various items from radiators i set off for day 2 in Osterly for the SCAS Fita Star
It was a lot drier today, i even came home with dry feet

and i shot sooo much better today, much happier with my performance, oddly wind was easier to cope with than rain
yesterday`s score was a 45 handicap todays was a 38 handicap(1031)
much more like my normal level of shooting pretty good for my 1st ever Fita round
(not even shot a Fita round in practise at the club)

i didn't win any Medals (or Spoons in this case) but,
i did get to claim for 3 badges
EAF Fita Badge Recurve 950
Fita Star 1000
and a 6 Gold End badge should all be making their way to me someday

Fantastic Steve, good for you!! I'm glad it was a bit drier for you, although it could hardly have been wetter than Sunday!

And Ruth, I did it just for you!

That was the most cold cold cold may shoot, thought it couldn't get any worse than oxford, but I was wrong. Not that the weather was entirely to blame as I also didn't shoot well.

Does anybody know the gents recurve places for the fita as it's possible that I was somewhere?
Had to dash off so my partner could catch a train (which I made by 3 minutes).

There was a medal(spoon) for someone who wasn`t there, i think i heard Forest of Bere as the Club, one of the Judges collected it on behalf of the missing Archer as he was from the same club, might be you
