Malden Archers

Hello.

Soon plan to return to archery after a couple of years out, but was looking for a decent local club. I live in Richmond but am slightly put off by Royal Richmond Archery Club the rigid GNAS clothing rules and the fact that on weekend shoots it's adedicated target day so as far as I'm aware, you can't just have a relaxed practice.

So I was looking at Malden. Does anyone have any experience of this club - are they a decent and relaxed bunch, and fun to shoot with? Also, do I have it totally wrong about Richmond? If so,.. sorry!

If anyone can shed some light that'd be great.

Ta.

Hello and welcome to the forum

You may want to contact PorlyP and Clickerati on here as they are both members of Royal Richmond - and as of last night both committee members !

drchris, RRAC is a lovely club. I was also put off by the dress code on Sundays, but despite that, it's a great club to shoot with. We do a lot of fun shoots and we're a very social club with a wide range of members from young to old.

Our outdoor season ended last night and we'll be moving indoors in October. Therefore we won't have Sunday shoots throughout the winter. I suggest you arrange to come to one of our Wednesday evening practises and see how you get on.

Chris, it's a really nice club, on a really nice ground, and the conditions have been really nice in the 3 months I've been there.

Nice, helpful people, and some very good archers.

I'd probably recommend you just come down and have a chat and a shoot with us some time, always the best way to get a feel for a club.

Hi Chris - you could do worse than looking at Greenwood Osterley Archers, near Gillette Corner in Osterley too. Very friendly club, a good bunch of people, and we've got several member on this forum who will give you sound advice about us. We've also got a few who come over from the Richmond area, so it's not too far from you.

We shoot all year round outdoors on a Saturday, and indoors during the winter on Thursday evenings. Take a look at http://www.goarchers.org.uk/

cheers
