I like the Wilson Black Widow tabs. Comfy and flexible. I used a glove when I was a kid but I feel I get a better release with a tab.

Quicks do them: Quicks Archery

I've wondered about them too - do they slow down the string? The Quicks comment suggests they do. That might be a nice combination for me too - my well fitting (thin) leather glove plus the finger guard.

Ratty, I got my rubber finger guard from Targetcraft. I have used other rubber finger guards from other shops but I didn't like them as they were too bulky.

I will post a picture of it on my string just bear with me on the foto

As for the slowing of the string - I feel that of you are gonna shoot heavy bows then shooting them painlessly is best so if it does slow the string (can't say as I've really noticed) I don't really mind. The speed my arrows leave my 110# Hungarian horse bow I don't worry at all

A quote from Pip Bickerstaffe at the recent seminar in Southampton (as best I can remember it)...

"Do any of you shoot with a glove? Well, throw it away and buy a tab"

I have bought and tried a tab - and I'm not happy. I bought a black widow tab and i can't get on with it at all.

I draw my bow and my anchor point is with my index finger on my lips so using a tab really messes this up.

If I use a tab then I can only get comfortable with my fingers pulling under my chin which then means I have to aim at the bottom of the target at a 100yds let alone anything closer - I would alomost have to aim at my feet to get on a 20 yd target with this technique - so now I think that back to the glove is the way forward as I have earned my 3rd class like this and am 1 score away from 2nd class

any other pointers would be welcome

Both my kids used one of the rubber finger things on the string from quicks when they were toddlers. 4 & 5 yr old kids get muddled up with tabs. I used to put them on all the bows I used for have a go days too.

My daughter is now 9, and finds a glove easier to use than a tab at the moment too.

I've tried various different tabs & gloves, and without fail find that I cannot shoot as consistently with a tab, compared to a glove. I shot all last year with a Neet Cordovan glove & after a good break-in period, found it to be excellent. A nice slick release & enough feel for me. I've recently converted to a Big Shot & it's just freakin' awesome! Very comfortable, lovely slick cordura tips that allow a very smooth release, but with far better string feel than with cordovan.
I keep trying my tabs & I've only found one bow out of my 16 that I can shoot better with the tab (???) & that's an old 69" Hill style American Longbow. All my shorter longbows (AFBs to you) shoot waaaay to the right with a tab, for some odd reason.
I'm not going to give up on the tab, because I can honestly see the technical advantage, but for now I'm sticking to my Big Shot!

I have used both , but found the glove slightly better. but i now use a small rubber attachment the goes on the string it's self that i find allows me a lot more control. i think they are for bow fishing but what the hell, you can see a pic of them on merlin archerys site hope this helps sorry about any spelling errors but i am currently half way down a bottle of JD
