| Arrow's for Grozer Old Scythian bow. Hi All, I've been shooting my 11/32 pine arrow's spined at 45# for a 50# long bow from my 50# scythian and they seam to fish tail like nobodies business when shot from it. Is this because of the speed of the bow or have I got incorrectly spined arrow's for the bow. Does anybdoy have any ideas as to a suitable arrow spine for this type of bow? |

5.5" fletchings will help and try a different release maybe 3 fingers under or a thumb ring. hope this helps. ![]() ps. your problem wont be the spining |

| Thanks Ratty and V, Any ideas as to what causes the fish tailing? |

a larger fletch would help stop the fishtail, i also have a old scythian by grozer. i have noticed my arrows kick on first release, it is probably got something to do with the size of the bow and the bow recoil (if recoil is the right word) i would recommend 32" shaft even if you dont draw 32" 11/32 120 grain pile and atleast 5" fletch. on a clout i can still shoot 180yds easy my old scythian is 60# at 28" but drawn to 32" becomes 80# ps. hold the bow tight in your hand it will help your accuracy too.it took me a while to work it out. ![]() i hope this helps. if you only draw 28" 5/16 will be fine ![]() pps. i love this bow its so fast ![]() |

| I keep hearing that Cedar is not what it was quality-wise? Smells nicer for sure! What about other woods? Sitka Spruce? Am contemplating investing in some of these shafts from Hi-Force.

to be honest im not sure, the person who told me ( also a Steve ) told me that asiatic archers would pretty much never use such thick arrows as an 11/32, they were very thin to maximize speed and range. He has just finished a full set of bamboo arrows made from Psuedosasa japonica ( growing in his garden, cut to length and cured for 3 months) with self nocks, bound in animal sinew and fish glue ( homemade ) that are about 5-6mm thick and fly like concorde! so fast and accurate they astound me... i want some! but my skills would make a mockery of them! He said to me that the thicker heavier shafts only really suit very heavy draw weight bows , over 100lb for example and the English Warbow was a spearchucker, throwing hard hitting heavy arrows at armour. And the asiatic style of bows favoured a light arrow, quite whippy with sheer speed behind them. i think its just what the different nations used and preferred but my Scyth does seem to prefer 5/16.and your right, POC shafts smell absolutely gorgeous dont they ![]()
