meare heath bow

have tried googling up some info on this but for what seems a reasonably important historical bow information is scarce - found some pictures and a few little bits and pieces about modern reconstruction attempts

but

does anyone have some links or sources i could go to in order to find out more about it and its apparent construction ?

There's a bit on the spta site:

primitive bows page

and some drawings in Hilary's book:

Amazon.co.uk: The Traditional Archers Handbook: A Practical Guide: Books: Hilary Greenland

And a couple of pages in TBB2 & TBB3. Including a nice replica in rock maple

Interesting thing is the centre is keeled for over 20" in the . Makes you wonder why they made things so hard for themselves...

When the holmegaard is done I'll be doing a meare heath, probably in lemonwood.
