Warbow :D

ORDERED!

The story so far;

After posting a thread asking for details on companies that sell Warbows, one of the links was for DIY Archery (DIY Archery Longbow kits - manufactures of quality handmade Longbow arrows, arrowheads, staves, shafts and accessories). I sent an e-mail to Steve at 10.20pm on Monday, ten minutes later I had a full reply, answering all my questions in full, and giving me contact details if I wanted to discuss anything. Over the last couple of day's I've sent Steve several e-mails asking him more questions and I've received reply's almost instantaneously!
Steve has answered each of my e-mails in full, giving me all the information I asked for (and more!) and has made me feel comfortable handing over my money!

I can't recommend this guy enough. Just can't wait to get my bow! (2-3 weeks if he hasn't got one in stock, now that's quick!).

So, In a very long parcel, I will receive:

1 x 100# @ 32" Laminated Warbow
12 x 1/2" Birch Shafts
12 x Horn Slivers (for nocks)
12 x 1/2" Drop Forged Bodkins
36 x Full length feathers
1 x Complete arrow as a pattern

I haven't been this excited since getting my first recurve when I first started!

Photographs to follow!

Kae.

I think an AK 47 would be a better option, them bows went out of fashion in the middle ages!! Why on earth would anyone want a bow of that weight? Is it just to prove that you can draw it back to full draw? what else can you do with it, certainly not target shoot or field, you may be able to shoot flight or show off at summer have a goes. Sorry, I just don't see the need for "excuse to miss" bows!

The simple answer to this question is I want to learn to use a longbow.
for me a longbow is the bow of legends used at Agincourt etc. etc. and so I am working towards this goal (so far I can only manage 112lbs)

Also, it is a form of experimental archaeology, much of warbow archer discussion is about how medieval archers would have used the bows etc. and how better to figure this out than to shoot replica bows

But above all because its great fun, you should give it a try,
the experience of using a bow which you have to put your whole body into pulling and feel it throw you forward as you launch a 1/2" war arrow high into the sky is very different to any other archery and just cant be beat :-)

Isn't anything other than a compound an "excuse to miss bow"

BTW - I do use my 112lb bow in target archery !

Wow how arrogant.
So because you don't see the point, we shouldn't do it eh?

This forum is full of different bow types and shooting styles. There are many that don't appeal to me but I don't find it necessary to slag them off. For your info, we do shoot target, and field. We also shoot clout and roving mark.

Maybe look into the subject first before you just go slagging it off.
