Red Falk vs. Samick Lightning?

Does anyone know either of these bows?

I've read some good reviews of the Samick Lightning. I like the "long limbs + short handle = smooth draw" idea, and I really like Samick's products generally. The only (small) disadvantage seems to be the limb tips, which aren't strong enough for Fastflite strings: I'm looking for a field bow with comfortable (i.e. mid- to low) poundage, and am hoping to make up the speed with lighter arrows and a fastflite string.

I'd be curious to hear about the Red Falk (made by Ragim/Tamars), if anyone has actually shot one? It also seems to be long limb/short handle (but I can't be sure, only judging from pictures), it will take Fastflite, but I don't know anything about the quality, grip design & balance, etc. And I haven't seen any reviews, only the manufacturer's blurb.

Any feedback would be helpful and most welcome!

You also may wish to check out the Donadoni Picchio in the 62" version. Slightly more than the Samick but better build quality and a real performer for the money. I had one at 42lbs and it was fast, smooth & user friendly. Donadoni recommended Beman Energy shafts which flew fast & flat from this bow. A Border Black Douglas spoiled me for any future wooden recurves but for the money the Picchio was a very nice bow. Mr Donadoni is also a superb competition field archer and a keen bowhunter and while his english isn't great his advice is sound.

Wow, thanks for the heads-up Macbow. This is exactly what I'm looking for, and given that it comes with a case & rest it actually isn't more expensive than the Samick.

Is it ok if I bother you for more details? (I'm kinda new at the traditional archery thing.) Did you get the standard fastflite or the flemish string with it? Without having tried it, I would guess that a flemish string would be quieter & take some of the "edge" off the shot (in my case, a good thing).

I also don't know much about the wood (Shedua and Bubinga are his choices). Is is a purely aesthetic choice, or does one kind hold up better than the other?

He also has "Easton" ICS Energy shafts for sale on his site; have they bought up Behman? But I assume it's the same arrow.

Did you buy directly from his online store? Would just be nice to hear how the business side of things are down there, before I go amok with a credit card... ...but then if I could do THAT much damage to my account, I'd be shopping at Border, too.

If you have a look on the 2006 Easton Shaft Selector programme http://www.eastonarchery.com/downloa...20Selector.exe you'll find the last column is for Beman shafts.

They've been part of Easton for ages.

Hi - just drop him an email and ask what he'd recommend. Initially I wanted a 50lb bow because that's what my mate was using but he advised me to get the 42lb limbs and use carbons. Tell him your draw length etc and he'll recommend the arrow spine. He sent me the flemish fast flite string and I can't remember what the woods were but I loved the semi-matt finish. I just bought through his website - it was easy and the shipping was very quick. The bowstring came with the nocking point in place as Donadoni said he had set it all up and checked it with the arrows before packing it up. I just had to assemble it and set the recommended brace height and i was good to go. I've used him a few times for bits and pieces and he is a good guy to deal with. For shafts etc you may be cheaper going with Bowsports but if you can get it all at once you can start shooting as soon as your bow arrives.
