| Tight nocks Can anyone advise a good way to make tight nocks looser without deforming the shape of them. I have some new nocks and they are snap fit but far too tight and affecting flight of the arrows - have tried just bending them open but this seems to be just temporary and not consistent. They fit ok when they're snapped on - the string diameter is fine - its just the 'neck' part where it snaps on is too tight Wondered if anyone has any tips or suggestions. (They're stuck on with superglue and so changing them isn't an option !) |

| Pinch the string serving with some needle nose pliers. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Might be possible to remove a couple of strands from the string and re-serve, if the string isn't too light already. Best to remove the nocks with a sharp knife and replace though, they shouldn't be glued on with superglue.

| What's wrong with superglue? I have always used it on my xx75s. Good strong joint but easy to remove as the glue has not shear strength.

| You can also take the nocks off the arrows, put them in warm water then nock them onto the string a few times. They should open up a little bit without any damage. |

| Superglues are not all the same, some compositions can degrade plastic, or can dry too fast and brittle.... "slow drying" super glues are best (stronger/less brittle/more time to set nock angle). If you must use superglue, once which retains a flexible base will absorb vibration better, but why bother when there's better glues for the job?

| Reserve the centre serving with a thinner serving. I use the end serving thread for compound strings as centre serving if needed and it works fine. Or get a new string with less strands. Filing nocks is a no no as far as I am concerned. If you put the nock on the string you should be able to hang the arrow from the string and the "spin" the string with your fingers and the arrow should not move. If it swings that means things are far to tight and new centre serving or less stranded string is needed. Nightimer |

| Easiest fix I've found is to wrap a sheet of 400 grit wet & dry around the string, abrasive side out, & slide my nocks up & down the paper a few times. Far easier & quicker than re-serving & I've never had a nock split yet. Just be careful not go too far with it!

| Serve the centre serving with the correct diametre to suit your nock! Never file the nock or put it in hot water or grip the string with pliers, what a load of bollocks!! Do it right and use the correct string strand and serving |
