| I have known several archers who say the same sorts of things about one distance. Some even have a favourite one.Similarly, shooting indoors at a worcester round; some say they do better at the top face or bottom face. Some even find they have to alter their sight despite the distance being the same. I have no evidence as to why, but it does seem to me to be one of two reasons. Mental approach; they did badly once or twice, now they expect to do badly every time so they underperform. The other reason could be form. If the upper body alignment changes as the distance changes; which it can do if that is not attended to with great care;then the platform for the shot is weakened at distances where the alignment is further from ideal. Bowshoulder positioning can be variable as the sights are changed. It shouldn't happen that way but quite often it does and the archer can be unaware of the slight changes. |

| 50 yards/metres was my bogey distance for a long time. Every time I shot it, my groups blew up ridiculously. It wasn't a clearance problem or anything, just something between the ears. Hasn't happened for a good six months, though. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| 50y is a duff distance for me....cos i shoot so many nationals, I know I've only got 4 ends to get the score I want, I'm getting tired and my mental game goes to pot.....wasn't as bad as it has been yesterday though....

| It would be interesting to find out how many accept their bogey distance and how many do something about it. And what they do/did. |

| If I have a "bad" distance, I find the best solution for me is to practice it more frequently until it ceases to be a problem. How many people who experience this practice ALL the relevant distances (except to get sightmarks)?

| I find 50m the problem distance too, the one where I feel I should pick up points but somehow don't. I should practice it more often, Murray, I know!! ![]() Now this might just be me, but does anyone else have 'bogey animals'? I always miss foxes, and hit the unglamorous things like frogs and carp. ![]() | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| my bogey distance is 80 yards, i have tried a few things to sort it and only this week i think i may be sussing it out, yesterday i was shooting a new nat after 4doz @100 my score was 296, now you would think getting BM score from that would be a doddle, i ended up on 430 that really sucks. anyway while shooting these poor scores i noticed that the knob on my clicker was obstrucking my veiw of the sight pin. went down the field this morning to try and fix it. moving the extension bar out do's not work, this is a line of sight problem that occures at 80 yard, which just happens to fall at this distance. i could try a diffrent clicker, but if anyone has a diffrenrt approach to this please pm me rod | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
