"im trying to get a dozen to make up some arrows for my wife because she tried some at the club and they fly really nicely off her bow because of the low weight."

Hi all

Carol would have been my pointer for you but as has already been mentioned she will be away for a while. 1/4" shafts are pretty rare and unfortunately I don't stock them... yet

Please don't go anywhere near Ramin if you want decent set of weight matched and spine matched shafts for target arrows - fine for playing but there is a reason for them being cheap!).

Quicks would be my second choice if I were in a hurry but again they won't be spine and weight matched very closely. If you can afford to wait a little while I would go to Carol or Chris Boyton as they will spine and weight match the shafts properly (at a small cost increase as it's very time consuming to do) and if you are wanting serious target arrows then they should be a matched set otherwise you are never going to get the grouping.

As far as I know J&J only stock 11/32 and 5/16 same as me. Haven't dealt with Hi-Force but always hear good things so may be worth a ring

Cheers

Jason

Indeed. These are just "knockabout" arrows, but do just fine for that - bought as an experiment to see if they would do as kids have a go arrow shafts.

In 5/16" I think Chris Boyton does offer shafts spined 20-25#, if that's low enough?

Yep perfectly fine for that although I've seen several Ramin shafts shatter on loose as the grain is very hard to make out and it's hard to discard low quality ones. Just my opinion though but I'm sure they will be fine on low weight kids bows/re-enactment

Was original poster after 1/4" more for low weight/increased distance? I've made a few sets up lately and they fly very fast - like shooting knitting needles

If OK with 5/16's at 20/25lb I'll have a look and see what I have in my one-off stock pile - depends on what level arrow OP wants to make really.

Give me a shout if I can help at all

Jase

i got in touch with hi-force and they dont stock as low as 1/4 unfortunately

just to clarify what they are for, its for my wifes bow she shoots a Kassai Hunnish bow , 25lbs on her fingers. She is currently shooting a set of 5/16's spined to the weight and they fly really nicely but they havent got a hell of a lot of distance, after 25-30 they begin to drop off rapidly.

She tried a set of 1/4's made up by one of the guys at the club for his wifes hun bow, and they fly like needles! so much faster and the improvement is considerable. I tried everywhere to get hold of some 1/4's but they seem nigh in impossible to source.

to list, i have tried the following...

Merlin
Quicks
Hi-Force
LittleJohn
Chiltern
Bowsports
Flybowshop
Ten-ring
WAS are out of business this month
havent contacted Carol Edwards yet due to aforementioned circumstances
and a lot of other shops ive found from searches in the vain hope they stock them
