Start shooting at point blank. Move back a pace and adjust your aim to compensate. Continue this process till you get to 20m. Its the easiest method and One i use to good effect. Obviously its only good for checking site marks but thats all your after so it should work just fine. Remeber that the smaller increase of distance the less chance of missing.

If your arrows are matched correctly, and your technique is good, then with a longbow you should be aiming directly in line with what you want to hit. The arrow will only fly to the left if you have got something wrong. If everything is correct the arrow will fly around the bow and straighten up.
That said, it's very easy to get things wrong, so Schme1440's advice is good!

Yeah its a simple progressive method that just simply works. Its logical yet simple. It may not be the quickest but it works every time. As long as you remember where you was aiming and dont aim about a foot lower and stick and arrow into your chest freezer as the arrow sails under the boss. Hence why I have a fonz.
