| I have a length of Yew 8' x 4" with a slight bens in it, which is the best way to straigten it out? also how to season the wood & for how long? Hello Mate, Get yourself a copy of the Bowyers Bible vol1. Great instructions on how to steam wood and bent it to required shape. When you apply heat to wood it becomes more elastic enabling reshaping using clamps and pre made forms. This is one way to add recurve or reflex. You can use dry heat but this is less kind to the wood i believe. ( I stand ready to be corrected by any more learned aiukers) |

| Or if the string will line up through the handle you could leave the bend as character.! |
